Directions for use as a Patina Vehicle

You can use either Sealer AA-6 or AA-7 as a patina vehicle by mixing with dry pigments, universal colorants, or certain artist's colors such as Liquitex®.

Suitable dry pigment types

  • Iron oxides: reds, yellows, browns, blacks, earth-tones, and terra cottas
  • Cadmium sulfides and selenides: brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows
  • Chromium greens
  • Titanium oxide white
  • Colored oxides used in ceramic glazes
  • Certain metallic powders or flakes: bronze, copper, and stainless steel

Recommended procedure

  1. Clean and prepare the DESIGN-CAST surface as described above.
  2. Apply the pigmented sealer by brushing, spraying, or wiping with a cloth, so as to obtain the desired effect.
  3. Allow the pigmented sealer coat to dry to the touch - typically an hour.
  4. Spray or brush on a final protective coat of clear, unpigmented sealer.
  5. Allow patina to dry several days to develop full hardness.
